Black Market Fetus - A.N.A.B. [flexi] (2000)

Download via Megaupload

Black Market Fetus hails from Des Moines, Iowa. They've been playing since the late nineties. They started when the vocalist, Nate Fetus was just 16. This flexi always amazes me. It's so fucking raw and a far stretch from what the band is now. This record is extremely noisy and blown out. This is grind crust at its finest. It's played with just the right amount of ineptitude, and the perfect amount of rawness. The vocals really stand out on this release as being totally harsh in comparison to their other releases. I hope you enjoy this record as much as I do. I might end up posting the rest of their discography later on. We'll see how this goes over. Also, keep in mind that this is a flexi. It's been through years of abuse and poor care before it came into my hands so it is seriously noisy as fuck.

Abigail / Syphilitic Vaginas - Split [LP] (2009)

Download via Megaupload

Syphilitic Vaginas keep getting better and better. They are the perfect blend of G.I.S.M., Bathory, and Motorhead/Inepsy style crust-n-roll. This split continues in the style that makes them so great. Abigail cumz at you hard with two original tracks and two covers. My personal favorite being, "High School Metal Bitch." Without printed lyrics, I am left to assume it is the heart wrenching tale of Yasuyuki Suzuki and his love for underage girls that have listen Venom and Bathory. Abigail sounds like the Japanese Bathory ala The Return... and Self Titled on this record. Not surprising, seeing as how it includes a cover of "Possessed," by Bathory. Also included is a Nunslaughter cover. Play it loud and bang your fukkin head.

Blutschrei - Voice of Forbidden Pride [LP] (2006)

Download via Megaupload

Blutschrei is a Finnish band comprised of members of the almighty Hammer and Horna, and it’s very obvious that they share members. The riffage on this record is incredible. Very simplistic, but extremely powerful mid-tempo war hymns, it’s almost crusty in a weird sort of way, made evident by the first track on the b-side. The lyrics are pretty ridiculous. I face palm a few times every time I hear this record. But, regardless, it still manages to be a killer record.

The Oppressed - 5 4 3 2 1 [EP] (1995)

Download via Megaupload

This 7” is not black metal, it’s not d-beat, it’s not really that noisy. I usually flip over this record when browsing my 7”s, but a couple weeks ago I threw it on for old times’ sake. I got this maybe 5 or 6 years ago when I was super into Oi. The main reason I got it was for the 4-Skins cover. I had only listened to it once and filed it away for years. What a mistake. This record fucking rips it hard. The first track is guaranteed to get you riled up and super rowdy. If you’re not singing along and feeling the urge to break shit, you should get your head examined and then shave it. You’ve never heard Evil done like this. The selling point for this was the Evil cover, but when I first listened to it I was surprised to find out it’s an A Cappella version done in an army chant call and response style. The last track is the perfect drinking song. I don’t even have anything more to say for that track. Just listen and raise a pint. “We’re the ‘ooligans! The ooligans!”

Thorazine Gaze / Marsh - Split [MC] (2010)

Download via MegaUpload

Obscure split between Thorazine Gaze from Pennsylvania and Marsh from Minnesota.  The Thorazine Gaze side starts with a Xasthuric riff which totally amped me up to get depressive with my tape deck for the next 10 minutes.  What followed wasn't exactly what I expected or craved, but took that brief depressive mood and morphed it with raw, passionate black metal punk. Marsh begins their side with a dark ambient piece that drifts between industrialism and drug-coma for awhile, sating my craving for depression that Thorazine Gaze built up to, but decided against delivering. Now cue the post-punk black metal madness.  Yes, this combination has been bullied unto many albums, especially splits, but this ain't your mommas post-black amalgamation.

If there's one thing this cassette has in spades it would be passion.  Passion is the brownish DIY tape that holds the grab-bag of ideals found on this tape together; Thorazine Gaze moves between depression and raise-your-fist incitement, Marsh journeys from feelings of being lost, finding forgotten technologies, and building new hope.  Raw.

Sadorass - Strength and Wisdom [LP] (2002)

Download via MegaUpload

Raw hateful black metal from Germany. Sadorass is in the same vein as Ildjarn and Moonblood, but don't be fooled, this isn't some trendy fucking bullshit. It's raw, duh, but the perfect amount of raw. The guitars are complete fuzz. Also, there's some whack-ass noise/booty-clap/techno intro. Don't be misled by this, it gets a lot better. There's also Absurd and Werwolf covers.
